Sing for the Nation, and Bring Joy to 1000s

Come be part of an incredible singing opportunity with our Public Acts family and the Guardian newspaper. Together we will bring an anthem of joy, love and hope to the nation this winter.

Drum roll please....

THE BIG IDEA

We have been asked by The Guardian to collaborate with them on making a short musical film! Jim Fortune, composer of Pericles (Public’s Acts first production) will write the music and James Graham, a world-class writer, will write the lyrics. It will be a beautiful, anthem of healing which tells the story of the nation's family coming together to forgive, reset and rebuild.

The 5-minute film be released just before Christmas and should be an amazing moment of uplift and hope for the country. The Guardian has an enormous reach - their videos regularly get seen by tens of thousands of people all over the world, so it will be our biggest audience yet...!

WHERE DO WE COME IN?

The film will feature 4 high-profile professional actors and will build to a finale which involves a huge community of people representing the country singing together - enter YOU! We will be bringing together members from our London and Doncaster Public Acts communities to take part.

WHEN WILL REHEARSALS BE & HOW WILL THEY WORK?

Musical Director, Tarek and Emily (Public Acts Director) will be leading all rehearsals with you. Rehearsals will take place online over Zoom, and can be joined by video or over the phone. The commitment is quite light touch, but we need everyone to be available for 3 online rehearsals (if possible) at the following times:

1.           Wednesday 4 November 2020 (7pm - 8.30pm)

2.           Friday 6 November (7pm - 8.30pm)

3.           Wednesday 11 November (7pm - 8.30pm)

If you have an unavoidable schedule clash, you can indicate which date you will need to miss on your form.

You will then be given instructions to record yourselves on your mobile phones. If you are unable to self-record at home, we will be holding an online zoom session where we will film you singing on Friday 13 November (7 - 8.30pm).

As with everything we do, please don't worry if you don't have any previous singing experience! You will be so valued and welcome regardless of your level!
