An extraordinary act of theatre and community

PUBLIC ACTS DONCASTER
an extraordinary act of theatre and community
2020 has been a strange time for all. With the outbreak of Covid-19 our Doncaster Public Acts plans have had to change. A change that has provided exciting new possibilities for our Public Acts friends and family, with Autumn 2020 seeing the start of "Stories of Care" our new creative programme. Alongside our Online Resources page, there are lots of ways for you to stay creative and connected.
A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THEATRE AND COMMUNITY
In partnership with the National Theatre, Cast and 5 community partners, local people have been taking part in bespoke programmes designed in collaboration with each partner, including workshops, theatre trips and opportunities for socialising and creating together.

Upcoming Events
THE STORY SO FAR
The first Public Acts production was Pericles in August 2018, at the NT in the Olivier Theatre. Emily Lim, Director of Public Acts, Rufus Norris, Director of the National Theatre, and members of the Pericles company talk about the production. Following triumphant performances of Pericles at the National Theatre in summer 2018, the next Public Acts production, a musical adaptation of As You Like It, was in Queen's Theatre Hornchurch. Now, Public Acts has come to Doncaster, with our communities enjoying fantastic creative sessions and experiences.

THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE
A Doncaster community musical
The third Public Acts production, a musical adaptation of The Caucasian Chalk Circle, will play at Cast in Doncaster.
In a divided community, our reluctant hero, Grusha, risks everything to rescue an abandoned baby and raise him as her own. This new version of Brecht's classic, is a heartrending and gripping tale of the families we choose, filled with passion, hope, and plenty of Yorkshire grit and humour.
